Mugging??

Erm, for those who are studying in spore, dont totally got assimilated with singlish.

I felt it strongly after my lunch with some friends of mine on Wednesday. They were some exchanged students in my school, SEM( school of economics and management). Btw reflecting back now I realise that we had all of us from different countries. There were

1.Bugger. He is an American Iranian, residing in Finland, holding passports of the said three countries which is kind of unbelievable for me - we then spent some time to discuss about the sense of nationality, question aroused: which will he support if there is a conflict or war(choi~~) between U.S. and Iran? We went further on debate but that's not the point for now.

2. Tziwe. My buddy. As in...He was assigned to me in a so called Buddy programme, being an exchange student in our school. Helped him out from the very beginning of registration stuff, and this and that, and have become good friends for now. He's from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Yeah you are right,it's Rotterdam Film Festival right on my mind! And he is Wenzhou-nese , and he can listen and speak some cantonese and mandarin, cant write very well though =p.

3. Aaron. A HK guy. Similiarities in us: a Amazed by the high salary of professors in HK. bSpeaks cantonese. Ok lame.

4. Dan.A Thai guy coming from the same school as Tziwe

5. Lastly, a korean senior.girl. Same as me , international student. She is cool in the way that she paused her study after year 2 and went back Korea for some real estate and property related courses, then U.S. for English program, and U.K. for christianity volunteer works. I wanna learn from her. SOMETHINGis currently on my mind.

Well let's come to the point after LONG introduction.

I mean..nothing much la actually. The thing is like that:

We were then on the topic of going back home in winter holidays. Then I was trying to frighten them saying" Owh u guys are gonna spend your time mugging on the New Year eve." And yeah. They can hardly get me. "...Mugging..?" me: yeah, i mean..mug at the book..mugging..rr..studying!

Tziwe looked at me, frowning. And Bugger came to response too saying:" Do u mean u were going to rob something?" =.=|| Before that I insisted that it does exist in dictionary coz I saw alot of ppl using this word, you see( that's the consequences). However, I felt something's wrong and then I was probed to explain: " Oh, it is a term in Singapore though. It's like you're digging your head into books, similiar to when you're finishing a big mug of mushroom soup or milo or whatever, Holla.

Phew. That's the point I have. I mean it's ok to "verb"alise a noun but it doesnt seem to be appropriate when it already has its own meaning in verb. So, got me ?!

Happy Thank's giving.=D

5. to assault or menace, esp. with the intention of robbery.
